World Cup Breakthrough!
I skied my lifetime best result at the Canmore World Cup last weekend.  In the men’s 30km pursuit, I skied in the main pack for the entire race.  It is incredibly exciting to have shown myself and the world that I am capable of skiing in contention.  In the end, I was in a position to sprint for 15th place, just 22 second behind the winner, in a race that lasts over one hour and fifteen minutes.

I am so happy to have had this stellar race at home, with my family and so many of my close friends there to share in my success.  The atmosphere in Canmore was incredible.  It was a great weekend all around, with many phenomenal performances.  Special props to Jess Cockney on his breakthrough 9th place in the sprint, and to my sister Emily on her 34th place in the women’s 15km pursuit.
After a short break with family and friends over Christmas, I will hit the trails again at the World Championships trial races in Thunder Bay, Ontario.  After such positive experiences at the final World Cups before the trials, I have high hopes for the races in Thunder Bay.
